FREETOWN, Nov. 5 (SALONE TIMES) – The technical teams of both the National Sports Authority and the Sierra Leone Football Association have appointed four former Leone players as technical support team to the Leone Stars technical team.
The four will help the existing technical team headed by John Keister and his back-room staff with their coaching experience. The four players are Julius Gibrilla Woobay, Kemokai Kallon, Lamin Bangura and Lamin Conteh (Junior Tumbu).
Julius a Left back and mid-fielder played both local and professional football before he retired and is an assistant coach for East End Lions, Kemokai a right wing defender also played both local and professional football and is now part of the FC Kallon technical team.
Lamin Bangura a central defender also played both local and professional football. He is presently the head coach for the national home base team and Ports Authority FC and Lamin Conteh (Junior Tumbu) a mid-fielder.
Among the four players Lamin Bangura, Lamin Conteh and Kemokai Kallon played for Leone Stars in the 1996 Nations Cup in Tunisia.
Sources from the camp stated that the head coach John Keister has welcome the team and have told the players to work with them and give them maximum respect as their coaches. The above appointment is part of the Leone Stars preparation for the 2022 AFCON Tournament in Cameroun. These four former Leone Stars players will use their experience to help the team to win matches according to the authorities. The contract of the support team will end after the AFCON competition and it will be reviewed if the need arises.
