FREETOWN, Mar. 04 (SALONE TIMES) – The Sierra Leone Premier League continued last Wednesday with two matches at two venues in Freetown. Among the two matches played Ports Authority held FC Johansen to a goalless draw at the Brima Attouga mini stadium in the afternoon at Cline Town in Freetown. The draw puts the host team Ports in 13th Position with 22 points in 20 matches played. FC Johansen moved one place ahead to 9th position with 28 points in 20 matches played. In the evening of the same day, Old Edwardians FC hosted Mighty Blackpool at the Siaka Stevens Stadium. The match ended 0-1 in favor of Blackpool after the full 90 minutes with a goal scored by Donald Wellington in the 5th minutes of the first half. The result of the match has now placed Old Edwardians one place down into the relegation zone on the league table with 18 points in 15th position out of 20 matches played. Edwards have 13 goals in favor with 20 goals against and with a goal difference of -8 in the league table. They are placed off the relegation on goals different. The Premier League continued on Friday with FC Kallon thrashing Anti-Drugs 5-0 at the Wusum field in Makeni. Sallieu Tarawally scored 3 goals in the above match. In Freetown, Freetown City Council FC hosted the defending champions East End Lions at the Approved School field in Freetown. On the same Saturday, Police hosted Bai Bureh Warriors at the Police field in Kingtom, Freetown. The above was a relegation battle as both Police and the Warriors were at the bottom of the league table before the match. A victory for the host Police was not enough to take them out of the relegation. But will elevate them one place from the bottom of the league table to the second to last place in the league table. Bai Bureh Warriors will drop down to the last position if they lose to the Police on Saturday but a victory for the Warriors against Police was enough to take them one point above the relegation zone. On the same Saturday RSLAF FC engaged Wusum Stars at the Wusum field in Makeni. On Sunday Diamond Stars host the league leaders Bo Rangers in Kono at the Koidu town field. In Freetown on Sunday SLIFA FC host Central Parade FC at Attouga mini stadium. The results of the weekend matches were not known until press time.
