Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio Addresses Parliament

The Ministry of Information and Civil Education has held a press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Tower Hill). The conference was held on Tuesday 8th August, 2023.

The Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police William Fayia Sellu told journalists that eight middle- level officers, six non- commissioned officers, two police officers, one retired police Superintendent and two civilians had been arrested. He also announced that more people were to be arrested and those include, five military officers and two of them High Ranking officers and three Non- Commissioned officers.

More police officers have been sent in search of the remaining people that are yet to be captured by the police, he informed. 

When asked about the fate of the people arrested and how they were going to be handled. I.G Sellu replied that there are laid down rules for those types of punishment. However, he failed to respond when asked about redress mechanism for those that would be found innocent.
