President Bio Challenges Ministers, Administrative Heads to Do More for Country

The Deputy Majority Leader 2 Hon Emerson Lamina has said that Permanent Secretary, Bank Governor and others cannot address parliament only ministers and Deputies can address members of Parliament.

Hon Lamina made this statement while Parliament was approving two Deputy Ministers -Hon Mimie Yeama Miema Soba-Stevens Deputy Minister of Environment and Climate Change and Mohamed Aji Kellah Deputy Minister of Social Welfare last Friday 18 August.

The Deputy Majority Leader 2 advised the two deputy ministers that if permanent Secretaries ask them for anything like money they must put it in writing.

He said the former minister of Environment and Climate Change Prof. Jaward did well in passing the EPA Act which the ministry is enjoying.

He appealed to the Minister of Environment not to accept fly by night mining companies to operate in the country and for the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare to look at the disable and the physical challenge d in the country.

Hon Mustapha Sellu pointed out that they have seen situation in which ministers and deputies are not working together.

Hon Francis Amara Kaisamba asked the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs to help combat drug abuse that is now rampant amongst young people in the country.

Hon Mohamed Bangura Karena District in his contribution stated that the appointment committee has done its job, noting that, the Scholarship for Hajj which is meant for Sierra Leoneans are given to foreigners, so he asked Mr. Kellah to work with parliament for the scholarship.

The Deputy Majority Leader 1 Hon Bashiru Silikie said environment challenge is a big problem in the country.

The Speaker of parliament Dr. Abass Bundu expressed hope that the nominees will excel in their duties in the executive.
