FREETOWN, March 03, (232News) – On the 27th February 2021, the Moeba Students’ Union recognized pupils and schools in the community for their outstanding academic performances in the N. P. S. E AND B. E. C. E examination for the 2019-2020 academic year. The theme of the above program was “education as a driven tool to community development”.
This historic program was staged by the Ministry of Education at Moeba Students’ Union inorder to answer to one of the key aims of the union under it constitution pursuant to Article 3.3 (paragraph 5) which has to deal with awarding academic excellence. More so, it was also staged to change the narrative of education in the community, thereby awarding academic excellence to inspire a better result in years to come. The program is itself a implementation and support to the government in building a strong educational system that can produce respectable and productive citizens.
In that light, the union extended certification and gifts (school materials) to best pupils who put up outstanding performances in the 2019-2020 N. P. S. E & B. E. C. E examination. The best schools in the community were also recognized and certified.
Further, the program was graced by influx of dignitaries and people of higher calibre in society who witnessed this program to ensure the needful is done. A representation from the Ministry of Primary Education was seen together with community representatives such as; the Honorable, Councillor, Chiefs, Pastors, Imams, Trustees of the union and many more.
In admixture, this motivating and inspiring gesture shown by the union was appreciated by the community stakeholders, dignitaries present, school heads and the pupils. However, this was because this is the first time in a long time that schools and pupils are been awarded for their outstanding academic performances.
The union in this light wishes to ensure that this historic academic award ceremony will continue to hold in subsequent years to see that the union can appreciate and recognize the hard work of pupils and schools in the community inorder to motivate and inspire a positive competition among schools in the community to enhance a positive outcome of result at external examination level. The union believes in the saying of education as a driven tool to community development.
