The Sierra Leone Female National Premier League champions Mogbwemo Queens will today Saturday engage Determine Girls FC of Liberia in the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League 2023 qualifiers in Liberia. Mogbwemo Queens lost their opening match in the qualifier 1-0 to AS Dakar after a tough battle in both halves. The Queens continued on Wednesday with another goal drought as they were held to a goalless draw by AS Mande from Mali at the SKD Stadium in Monrovia. At the end of the match against the Malians the Guinean-born goalkeeper Mawa Traore after preventing Mogbwemo Queens from another defeat with her brilliant saves received the Woman of the Match award for the match. According to a source from Mogbwemo Mawa who was the number-one stopper for the Guinean national Women’s team was spotted while she was on a loan spell at Patricia UMU FC. She was also the No. 1 choice for Club Olympique de Ratoma (COR) in Guinea.

Meanwhile, Mogbwemo Queens who are with 1 point in two matches played will face Determine Girls FC of Liberia in a battle for supremacy on Saturday. Both teams are yet to register a win in the championship qualifier. Mogbwemo Queens are in 3rd position with 1 point in two matches played with no goal in favor and 1 goal against while the Determine Girls are at the bottom of the log table with 1 point in two matches played with 1 goal in favor and 4 goals against. Today will be the last match for the four clubs in the qualifiers. In the qualifier leg AS Mande (Mali) is leading the table with 4 points in two matches played, 3 goals in favor, and no goal against. AS Dakar of Senegal is in second with 4 points in two matches played with 2 goals in favor and 1 goal against. The two top clubs will meet on Saturday to find the champion in the qualifier that will qualify for the next stage of the Africa Women’s Champion’s League. If Mogbwemo wins on Saturday with more than two goals and no goals against the Liberians they will rise to second position provided the Senegalese loses to the Malians without scoring a goal. Both Mogbwemo and Determine FC have no chance again to qualify but will now only fight for supremacy to gain the top CAF & FIFA ranking.
