Mohamed Turay elected President of the Sierra Leone Swimming and Water Polo Association

FREETOWN, Oct. 28 (SALONE TIMES) – The Sierra Leone Swimming and Water Polo Association on last Saturday 23rd October in an elective congress elected Mohamed Turay the former Secretary General of the association as the President of the association.

Mohamed was the sole candidate for the position but according to their constitution the delegates were ask to vote and they unanimously voted for Turay to be their next president.

Mohamed held the position of the Secretary General for the association for several years and has been understudying the outgoing president.

After his election, he assured the members that it will be continuity and nothing will change their development direction. He appointed the outgoing president to still be around the association as an adviser to the new executive.

The elective congress was chaired by Percy Nicholson the Vice President of Badminton while the president of Badminton Chief Michael Shamsu Mustapha represents the National Olympic Committee.

The delegates  also voted Philip M. Bangura as the Vice President, Abdul Turay  Secretary General, Joseph Jida Kiz Kamara Assistant Secretary General, Hawa Dauda Women’s Representative, Brian O. Sawyer and Lydia K Tucker as PRO 1&2 who were also sole candidates for the various positions.
