Your Excellency, Mr. President,

SUBJECT: OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT: Mr. President, Adopt Peterline Florence Bangura as Your Child for a Day!

I write to you today with a heart shattered beyond repair, clinging to hope as my last lifeline. I know your time is of immense value, and I apologize for this intrusion. I am a mother in anguish—a mother whose soul cries out for her missing child, Peterline Florence Bangura.

On New Year’s Day, my thirteen-year-old daughter disappeared while in the company of a trusted family friend, Finda Finfin Favour Davies, who had taken her to spend the holiday with her childhood friends, Edelia and Abigel. Peterline had known them since she was in class four, and their bond was one of innocence and joy.

The last time I heard her sweet voice was on New Year’s Eve when she called me from church. I was comforted, imagining her in a place of worship, surrounded by safety and blessings. But the next day, when I reached out to check on her, my world began to unravel. Finda informed me that my precious Peterline had vanished, and the police had been notified.

What followed has been a living nightmare. The search for my child has turned into an unthinkable ordeal. I was taken to identify lifeless, faceless bodies—each moment stripping pieces of my humanity. I am now being pressured to accept a mutilated, unrecognizable corpse as my daughter without any forensic or scientific proof.

Mr. President, my daughter is not just a name or a number in a file. She is my heart walking outside my body. She is laughter that lights up rooms, dreams that stretch into the stars, and a love so pure it defies words. She is everything to me.

Some of the officers involved in this investigation have treated my anguish with cold detachment as if my pain is an inconvenience. Their lack of empathy and their failure to uphold the dignity of a grieving mother has left me broken yet determined. I cannot—and will not—accept anything less than the truth about my daughter’s fate.

Mr. President, you are not merely the leader of this nation; you are its father. As the head of the proverbial village entrusted with raising every child, you have championed the protection of the girl child with more legislative strides than any president in living memory. Your symbolic gesture in 2018, passing the office staff to your daughter during your first inauguration, remains engraved in our hearts. That moment was a beacon of hope for mothers like us, whose daughters were the same age as yours then. It promised a future where every child could dream without fear. But today, that promise hangs by a thread. The daughters we once believed were safe are now preyed upon, their innocence stolen with predatory cruelty, leaving mothers bereft and hearts shattered and our ocean a graveyard for children.

You know the fierce, unyielding love a parent has for their child. I implore you to step into my shoes, if only for a moment, and imagine the terror of not knowing whether your child is alive or if she has been taken from this world by human cruelty or neglect. Imagine the sleepless nights, the hollow days, and the relentless ache of unanswered questions.

If God calls Peterline home, I will surrender her to Him and pray for her eternal peace. But if human hands have played any role in her suffering, I will not rest until justice is served—not just for her, but for every mother, every child, and every family who deserves to live in a nation where lives are valued and justice prevails.

I ask you, Mr. President, as a father who has stood as a symbol of love and protection, to adopt Peterline as your own, even for a single day. Let your voice echo on her behalf. Let your influence ensure that those entrusted with this investigation treat it with the seriousness, compassion, and urgency it demands.

I am on my knees, begging for your intervention—not just for me but for the countless parents who might one day face this same nightmare. You have the power to bring hope where there is despair, to shine light where there is darkness.

Thank you, from the depths of my broken heart, for hearing my plea.

Yours in anguish and hope,
