The Sierra Leone Archery Association over the weekend organized their first competition for both male and female at the OlymAfrica Center, Goderich in Freetown. The two days competition started on Friday and ended on Saturday.

In his statement the NOC President Prince V. Sualley commended Yayah Koroma the President of Archery for his relentless effort to bring Archery thus far just in few months. He told Yayah to be proud of himself and the entire executive members for organizing such a wonderful competition which drew the attention of so many sports men and women in the country. He went to say ‘I personally know what you went through to put the Archers together which he said is due to your hard work”. The first activity he said will pay a dividend to develop the sport. To the Archers he said they should continue with the hard work and focus on trainings so that one day they will represent Sierra Leone in international competitions. He went on that years from now Archery will be one of the best Sports in Sierra Leone and they the first athletes will be proud to say we were the first to take part in the first competition. The President of the association congratulated all the athletes who participated in the competition. He went on that they all showed their incredible skills and determination throughout the tournament. He extended special congratulation to the winners and told them to maintain the good work and to those who did not win he said they should not relent as more competitions are ahead. He told the technical team and the athletes to push hard to develop the sport.

To his colleague presidents and representatives from the Sports Ministry, NSA, NOC and the others he said their presence had made their program memorable. He went on that he will ever remain to remember that memorable day. He told them all that they were the new Baby in the Sierra Leone sports eager to grow fast as such he said he wanted the full support of all of them.
