The President of NOC Prince Vandy Sualley has on behalf of the executive of the National Olympic Committee commended the Leone Stars players for their stun victory against Ivory Coast the defending champions of Africa.

He went on that in sports one needs to beat the best to become the best that he said is what exactly Leone Stars have done.

Ivory Coast, he said are the defending champions of the competition they are fighting to qualify for in the group stage. Prince went on that despite their present position in the group is 3rd position they have the equal chance with Zambia in 2nd position to qualify.

Sierra Leone’s next match will be against Chad in 4th position in Cameroun. He went on that despite Chad is the host country both countries will be playing away from their home.

Prince said Leone Stars need nothing less than victory against Chad in Cameroun. The victory he said will be used as the motivation to win their last match at home in Liberia.

He appealed to the players to do all their best to do the needful thing for the fans and the entire Sierra Leone. To the authorities, he has urged them to give the players the best motivation to enable them to win the two remaining matches. Sierra Leone will host Zambia in second position with 7 points in their last match.

Before the match against Sierra Leone, Zambia will host Ivory Coast in Zambia. The outcome of that match according to Prince will determine how the group will end.

In that match, both Ivory Coast and Zambia need a victory and nothing less. A victory for the defending champions will automatically qualify them for the 2025 AFCON competition in Morocco.

While a victory for Zambia will lead them to lead the group with 10 points. With 10 points if they lost to Sierra Leone and Sierra Leone ends with 10 points the qualification will be decided on goals in favor and against.

Prince further congratulates Shooting Stars for qualifying for the Africa U-20 AFCON competition for the first time in history.
