The National Sports Authority (NSA) is gearing up to transport a large number of Sierra Leonean football fans to Liberia for Leone Stars’ upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Chad. Due to the ongoing ban on the National Stadium in Freetown, Sierra Leone is hosting its home matches in Liberia.
Recognizing the proximity of Liberia, the NSA has formed committees to facilitate the travel of fans at a reasonable cost. Authorities believe that having a strong contingent of Sierra Leonean supporters in Liberia will boost the morale of the national team and increase their chances of victory.
The NSA plans to hire over seven buses to transport fans to Monrovia for the match. The transportation packages will include match tickets, with prices set at Le 1,600 for VIP tickets, Le 1,300 for the cover stand, and Le 800 for the open stand. Fans will be responsible for arranging their own lodging and meals. For fans traveling from the provinces, the prices will differ slightly.
Tickets will be available at multiple locations: in Freetown, at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Headquarters and the Ministry of Sports office at Bishop House; in Bo, at the Total Fuel Station; in Kenema, at the KDFA Office; and in Makeni, through Wusum Stars officials. Sierra Leoneans residing in Liberia can purchase their tickets from the Sierra Leone Embassy in Monrovia.
Leone Stars will travel to Zambia immediately following the match for their next AFCON qualifying fixture.
