The OlympAfrica Center in Sierra Leone is embarking on organizing youth games for both boys and girls from the schools at Godrich. According to the Director of the above center Frank Turay the OlympAfrica center was formed to take care of children in education, sports and social activities. In this case they are organizing two months long different types of games in collaboration with the National Olympic Committee and ANOCA for the children. The OlympAfrica he said has helped to take and draw their attention from the street. The OlympAfrica also teaches the children on activities that are bad and how to avoid them like the taking in of drugs. The youth Games he said was scheduled to take place in 2022 but said the budget was not ready at that time. Frank Turay said the Youth Sports started in January with football and Handball and they are now training them how to play basketball. He went on that the children in the two months program will also play Teqball, take part in Athletics and involve in several other sports as the time goes on. The youth games he said will continue yearly onto 2025 to train them when they are young. It was also created to raise the level of their performance in sports. Apart from Sports sustainability will be also be done in the program to teach them how to sustain their environments. They will be also doing tree planting in the environments and teach them how to do art drawing. They will be also doing cultural dance. During and at end of the various activities he said they will invite experts in the various sports and the other activities to address the children. An expert he said will be also invited from EPA to come and talk to the children on the closing day of the program on how to protect their environment. Frank said he believe at the end of the programs in all the centers there will be regional competition and if that be they will select the best among the lot to go and represent Sierra Leone. At the end of it all he said trophies will be given to the best groups plus learning materials to best individual athletes. He said the program is targeting not less than 2,000 children and they will be using their PHEd hours in school to do the programs.
