FREETOWN, Apr. 20 (SALONE TIMES) – Hon Chernor Bah, Leader of the Opposition All People’s Congress (APC) has raised concern over the Peninsular Forest that has been burnt down by illegal land grabbers.

He stated that as representative of the people, he needs to bring it to the notice of parliament as that is one of the duties of MPS to protect the citizens.

He explained that whenever he passes around that part of the country, there is continuous burning of the forest, adding that, the forest is not managed well by the Ministry of Environment.

He noted that he did not know what the Ministry of Environment is doing toward that forest because they have forest guards that should be protecting the forest, so he called on the Minister of Environment and team to visit the peninsular forest and see for themselves what is going on.

Acting Leader of Government Business Hon Bashiru Silikie stated that the Minister of Environment and the committees on Environment and Lands together with Leadership should sit down and do an oversight concerning the peninsular forest.
