PFSL National Impact Conference Participants

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Sierra Leone (PFSL) has expressed deep concern over several pressing issues affecting their fellowship, constituents, and the nation at large. In a press statement issued on August 14th, marking the conclusion of the National Impact Conference themed “A Strong and United Church is Possible,” PFSL’s leadership outlined their apprehensions on matters they believe could jeopardize the peace and moral integrity of Sierra Leone.

Speaking on behalf of PFSL, the organization’s President, Bishop Akintayo Sam-Jolly, highlighted the following critical issues:

Religious Attacks: The increasing number of attacks on churches across the country by individuals masquerading as religious jihadists. These actions threaten the long-standing religious tolerance that Sierra Leoneans have cherished for generations.

Church Demolitions: Ongoing demolitions of church buildings by both individuals and certain state actors, which PFSL warns could lead to unrest if not addressed promptly.

Delayed Justice: The persistent delays in the legal proceedings involving churches, which the fellowship finds troubling and detrimental to justice.

Safe Abortion Bill: Concerns over the Safe Abortion Bill, now renamed the Safe Motherhood and Reproductive Health Bill. PFSL fears this legislation could undermine the spiritual, religious, and moral fabric of the nation, potentially inviting divine retribution.

LGBTIQ+ Issues: The fellowship expressed concern over the growing visibility and acceptance of LGBTIQ+ issues in the public domain.

Occult Practices: The rise in occult practices in Sierra Leone, which PFSL believes is harmful to their constituent churches and the nation’s moral values.

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Sierra Leone, in no uncertain terms, called on the relevant authorities to take immediate and decisive action to address these concerns, warning that failure to do so could have serious implications for the peace and stability of the nation.
