FREETOWN, Nov. 5 (232News) – The Executive of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Sierra Leone (PFSL) celebrated 365 days (one Year) in office with a thanksgiving service and dinner on Tuesday 2nd November at Radisson Blu Hotel with the theme “The king’s Business Requires Haste” 1 Sam 21:8.
The celebrations which featured: Church Leadership, Inauguration of Chapter Heads, Re-dedication of Executive Committee and Strategic Launching hosted Pastors from across the 16 districts of Sierra Leone with guest speakers Apostle Samuel Barnes Carr, President Liberia Fellowship of Full Gospel Ministers and Churches Association and Bishop Joseph Togna DORE, President of the Alliance of Evangelical Churches and Missions in Guinea.
In working towards a proper development of a brother’s keeper mentality, the President of PFSL and General Overseer of Living Word of Faith Outreach Ministries International, Bishop Akintayo Sam-Jolly informed his audience that they are taking PFSL to the people by building on the good foundation set up by his predecessors through the seven vision pillars God has given to him to focus on for the next four years in PFSL:
- Unity of the body
- Harnessing collective strength: Harnessing the strength of the Pentecostal and Charismatic community in Sierra Leone
- Growth and expansion: to ensure greater national impact for growth and expansion of the body
- Collaboration/communication
- Diaspora
- Self – Regulation
- Visibility and stability
Bishop Akintayo Sam-Jolly expressed thanks to God because it was a call to serve once again and take up responsibility of provide the leadership to the Pentecostal community.
His one-year leadership has made PFSL to become one of the fastest growing Christian organization in the country.
He said his taking over meant to build up those identified with the body and bring another type of leadership by bringing people all across the country to be part of PFSL which was considered to be Pentecostal Fellowship of Freetown.
The FPSL President went on to say the need to take PFSL to the people saw them holding monthly meetings in different locations across Freetown instead of the same location.
They also tour the country to establish PFSL chapters in all districts and chiefdoms headquarter towns.
During Bishop Akintayo Sam-Jolly one year in office, PFSL visited President Julius Maada Bio, Sierra Leone Inspector General of Police IG Sovula, Minister of Social Welfare among others, gave relief items to Susan’s Bay fire victims, divided Freetown into zones and relocated PFSL Headquarters in Freetown to a more conducive and befitting one.
He also introduced T-shirt, caps, stickers which people are using across the country to identifying themselves to PFSL. Issue of certificates and ID Cards to members are part of his one-year leadership.
“We thank God that significant progress has been made, there is more we could have done.”
He spoke about some challenges during his one year which includes one member manifesting a different gospel.
Bishop Akintayo Sam-Jolly determined to continue his seven pillars as uniting the body is an ascent battle which they determine to overcome.
“We are going to work further in proper collaboration, earnest strength and also work to strengthen relationship with other institutions.”
