The Pentecostal Fellowship of Sierra Leone (PFSL), the fellowship convened its monthly general meeting on March 5, 2024, at the Bethel Temple International Ministries Tower Hill. The thrust of the meeting was to address pertinent issues affecting member churches and the fellowship. The theme of the meeting which was aptly chosen was: “The Glory of Unity.”

The President of PFSL, Bishop Akintayo Sam-Jolly revealed that the primary purpose of the gathering was to deliberate on matters concerning member churches as the fellowship engages in fervent prayers for personal and collective growth and matters of national interest.

Bishop Sam-Jolly also emphasized on the distressing trend of churches being demolished across the country for diverse reasons.

The bishop emphasized the alarming absence of court orders, leading to situations where individuals take matters into their own hands, resulting in the unwarranted attack on churches. Particular reference was made to incidents in Bo and Freetown, where instances of church demolition and attacks have become a disturbing routine with the Bishop passionately asserting, that “It’s unfair to the body of Christ.”

Bishop Sam-Jolly also shed light on the fact PFSL is engaged in discussion on the proposed New code of conduct and registration process being formulated by the Ministry of Social Welfare for religious bodies. The house has been informed that concerns are being raised where some of those proposed rules and regulations will not be best for the nation and the welfare of our membership.

The President of PFSL affirmed that they have engaged Government officials, heads of related forces on matters related to these challenges. Some of these issues have found their way into the court system, which is a testament to the fellowship’s commitment to justice.

In a display of solidarity, Bishop Sam-Jolly mentioned that PFSL collaborates with umbrella organizations, such as the Evangelical Fellowship of Sierra Leone and the Council of Churches in Sierra Leone and others even though the PFSL remains an autonomous body with the right to address issues on its own.

The Vice President of PFSL, Apostle Augustine S. Kamara, exhorted on the theme,

The glory of unity, emphasizing key areas where solidarity among churches is crucial. As the PFSL faces major challenges, including legal battles and societal pressures, the fellowship has always collaborated and cooperated with Government and other stakeholders on matters of National concern.

The monthly general meeting served as a platform for the PFSL to strengthen its resolve, foster unity among its members, and address the pressing issues that threaten the harmony of the fellowship and the churches it represents. Through collaboration and unwavering commitment to justice, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Sierra Leone strives to uphold the values and freedom of its members in the face of adversity.
