The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prof David Francis said that the bilateral relationship between the Government of Sierra Leone and the Government of Qatar is to invest in agriculture and education.
He noted that the agreement also deals with employment in Qatar.
Prof Francis pointed out that His Excellency’s visit to Qatar is to strengthen the bilateral relationship with these two countries and that it shows a clear vision and well-being of these countries.
He noted that this agreement is a good one and that it involves mining, Engineering Science, Basic Education and trade.
Hon Aaron Aruna Koroma in his contribution said the agreement is good for our brothers and sisters but asked about those facing with numerous challenges in Dubai and Lebanon.
Hon Dickson Rogers said if a worker commits a mistake, they should not hold his/ her salary and that the ministry should put things in place between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
Hon Musa Fofanah stated that this agreement is talking about trade, agriculture which is development in cluster three of the mid-term development plan but they are particular about their constituents.
The Acting Leader of APC Hon Hassan A. Sesay said agreement of this kind is good; mentioning that there are lots of complains form migrant workers in Lebanon and Kuwait which should be addressed.
The Leader of Government Business Hon Mathew Nyuma has said that this agreement will guide migrant workers and that based on the legislation, the employee should know the kind of work he is going to do before signing contract with any agency.
