Parliamentary Committee on Information

FREETOWN, June 3 (232news.com) – Members of Parliament did not hold seating on Thursday June 2nd 2022 because the Air conditioners were faulty at the Chambers of the well of Parliament. According to the information SALONE TIMES gathered an unknown person went to the well of Parliament and dismantled the screw of the Air Conditioners. As a result, the gas which supplies the Air conditioners in the Chambers and the Lower gallery were not working which made the entire well hot and the heat unbearable. Members of parliament were supposed to debate the Narcotine and Tobacco Act 2022 but could not.

The multimillion question is how could this happened at the well of parliament? Parliament has its own security personnel; police personnel and CCTV Camera for someone to go in there and tamper with the Air Conditioners without seeing the culprit. This is seen as a big blow to the institution. One of the security personnel in parliament explained that they did not know the person who dismantled the screw of the Air conditioners and the technicians have been trying their best to fix the Air Conditioners. Earlier in the morning the Speaker of Parliament Dr. Abass Bundu and the Deputy Speaker Hon Segepoh Solomon Thomas went to the chamber to inspect the air conditioners and about 10: 30 am on the said date the speaker and the Director General of Parliament Finda Frazer also went to the chamber again to see whether the air conditioners were working. Journalists saw officials from the Nuclear Radiation Protection Authority doing some tests at the well of parliament, but they could inform journalists about the outcome of the test.

It could be recall the Air conditioners were procured in March 2022 because there was a time when parliament adjourned seating because of the air conditioners were not working. SALONE TIMES learnt that when parliament procured this air conditioner the problem would have been solve. The problem is still there on the AC’S. On June 2nd 2022 some Nigerians entertainers pay a visit to parliament like Patience Ozokwor and others. SALONE TIMES learnt that the speaker of Parliament at 1: pm called a meeting at Committee Room N0.1 to talk to members of Parliament so journalists did not know what are they   discussed at the said meeting.
