Ordinary Supporters of the main opposition All People Congress (APC) complained that they were severely beaten by the Presidential Guards on Wednesday 22 September at the Hill Stations.
Apart from the ordinary supporters of the APC, the Secretary General of the Party, Lansana Dumbuya was reportedly subjected to serious beating by Presidential Bodyguards.
According to Lawyer Dumbuya, his car was stopped at a checkpoint at Hill Station close to the Presidential Lodge and he was questioned by the guards attached to the President.
He said that it was in the process of that, his driver was beaten and he was also beaten by the guards.
“Even when I told them that I am the Secretary General of the APC, I was tortured with the statement that the President has given them authority to beat him,” Lawyer Dumbuya stated.
Meanwhile, the Publicity Secretary of the APC, Sidi Yayah Tunis said that they will be writing to the Police, the Military, the Presidency, and their moral guarantors on the attack of their Secretary General and other ordinary supporters of their party.
On the other hand, the Political Party Registration Commission (PPRC) has written to the Inspector General of Police on the alleged physical attack by security personnel.
