The Sierra Leone Premier League kick-off last Friday with the defending champions Bo Rangers hosting newcomers Real Republicans FC at the Bo stadium. Before the match both teams desire was to go for three points. On the side of the Rangers their aim is to win the premier league back to back while Republican after been absent from the premier league for 13 years want to stay there forever this time. In the match, both teams put up brave fight. The host teams who open the score in the 88 minutes of play by Ibrahim Sorie Conteh. Two minutes after the goal, the visitors equalized through Jumu Kamara’s goal in the 90 minutes of the full time.
The visitors held the defending champions to the 1-1 result onto the end of the match. Both teams now have 1 point and 1 goal in favor and 1 goal against in the league. The result was not a favorable result for the host who wanted to make use of the home advantage but the visitors were overwhelmed sharing points with the defending champions away. The newcomers told the media that though they were looking for a win, the draw result is a good start and they are going to improve on it for the next matches.
The league continued over the weekend with eight matches at 7 venues both in the city and the provinces but the results were not known onto press time. Republicans will host FC Johansen at the Police field, Kingtom in Freetown on the 17th December 2022.
