The last matches of the Sierra Leone premier league will on Saturday 22nd July 2023 take place at 9 venues in the country at the same time on the same day.
As it is, the defending champions Bo Rangers have been crowned as the champions of the 2022/23 season with few matches more to play. The battle will now be for the team that will end in second position and the teams that will be relegated. As the league table stands the battle for the second position will be between FC Kallon and East End Lions. Both clubs have 60 points each in 33 matches played with FC Kallon on 1 aggregate. On Saturday, both teams are fortunate to play their last matches at home. FC Kallon will host Freetonian SLIFA FC at the Angola field, Godrich in Freetown.
FC Kallon need nothing less than victory against SLIFA to grab the second position in the league. On the side of SLIFA with 43 points a victory against Kallon will elevate them to the 5th position if the teams in 6th and 5th position fails to win on Saturday.
Lions In 3rd position will host relegation threatened Kamboi Eagles at the Trade Center field in Freetown. In the above match both teams’ needs nothing less than victory as Lions needs the 3 points with more goals for the second position. Kamboi Eagles with 35 points also highly need the 3 points to escape from the relegation zone. Also in the battle for the second place if both FC Kallon and Lion lost their last matches Blackpool with 58 points will claim the second position if they defeat Old Edwardians at the Parade field on the same day.
In the other relegation battle, FC Johansen with 35 points will escape the relegation zone if they defeat Freetown City away at the Attouga field but provided if Wilberforce or Lamboi FC lose on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Lamboi FC need to fight all out to defeat East End Tigers at home to go down the relegation zone.
At the end of the league on Saturday the club that will end in second position will receive cash prize money and may stand to represent Sierra Leone in the CAF Club competitions. But according to the FA Media, Bo Rangers will represent Sierra Leone in the CAF Club Champions league and FC Kallon who present the criteria required will be representing Sierra Leone in the CAF Confederation Cup.
