FREETOWN, July 14 (SALONE TIMES) – Swells of Sierra Leoneans on social media has called on the President and the Police Council to sack the Inspector General of Police.
This came after the Police was seriously condemned for the way they treated an inmate who was alleged to have been involved in robbery with violence and the IG’s subsequent interview on the BBC.
Some Sierra Leoneans on social media stated that Souvula is a misfit to the police force that millions of British tax payers money was used to train after the war in Sierra Leone.
That the Inspector General of Police cannot even communicate or defend the excesses of the Police Force, pointing out that his interview on the BBC was shame and a sham.
They described the Inspector General as the worst Inspector General of Police in the history of Sierra Leone, liking him to one of the dreaded IGs in the 80s Bambay Kamara.
Meanwhile Hip-hop Musician LAJ will be in court today as he faced allegations of robbery with violence for which he has pleaded not guilty.
Before this time, people have raised questions about the age of the IG Souvula and they pointed out that he has reached the statutory retirement age of 60 but the government continues to keep him in office.
