Sierra Leoneans are wondering when their lives will change and when situation will become better for them and their children.

As they are in this life-thinking process, the Electricity Distribution Supply Authority (EDSA) has made a proposal for the increment of Tariff in the country.

This information was revealed to journalists as a way of update by the Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernoh Bah at the usual Tuesday government Press Briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“It is just a proposal that EDSA has made. It does not mean that they have increased tariff, but they have made a proposal to the Electricity and Water Regulation Commission,” he said.

According to the Minister, EDSA is making a proposal of more than 100% increment of tariff from 11% to 23% and that when the tariff is compared with countries in the sub-region, Sierra Leone has one of the cheapest.

He noted the increment is as a result of inflations in the country as well as depreciation of the LEONES to the US Dollar, promising that they will follow the proposal that has been made including the public engagement to ensure that the process is fair.

Meanwhile, Sierra Leoneans SALONE TIMES spoke to said that the increment will make an already bad economic situation in the country worse.

They noted that things are very difficult for the ordinary Sierra Leoneans and that it seems that the government is not considering the plight of the people but how to fuel their bloated government and expensive lifestyles.
