FREETOWN – As part of their inclusivity and the drive to fostering unity and good relationship between Sierra Leone and China Salone China Friendship Association (SALCHA) joined children of the Freetown Cheshire Home to celebrate this year Christmas.
On the 22nd December, 2020 SALCHA took food and drives to the home to celebrate the staff and children.
Welcoming SALCHA Freetown Cheshire Home Operation Manager, Ibrahim Bangura gave a brief history of the home which started from 1962.
He said the opening of the home came through a British Group Captain and it has been a blessing to many children including him.
He pointed out that the home is for vulnerable children, disable and it has brought out a lot of people over the years which are their mission.
He spoke about the adjustment between disability and non-disability children to stay together as that will help the disability children when they will be seeking higher education so that they will not find it different to interact.
SALCHA Public Relation Officer, Ibrahim Bangura said one of the places they deemed fit to start celebrating Christmas is Freetown Cheshire Home.
He pointed said disability doesn’t not mean inability that why they are with them.
“We are here because we believe that the people that can make the narrative change are the children. We believe in now not the future and the children are now.”
SALCHA Chairperson Mrs. Onike King informed the gathering that they are there to celebrate Christmas with them on behalf of the Chinese Embassy and the Founder of SALCHA Mariatu Kargbo.
She said they also believed in the children and they always have them in mind.
Mr. Belle said the Jesus was a friend of the children when he was on earth. “We wish you all the best for today and the future.”
