FREETOWN, June 3 (232news.com) – The Member of Parliament representing the All People’s Congress (APC) for Constituency 071 in the North-Western Region,Port Loko has catalogued the woes of the SLPP government while contributing to the motion of “thanking the President for this speech he delivered in Parliament”. According to Hon. Babah, the new direction led government has led the country to a pervasive injustice and that cases of selective justice are visible nationwide.
The Port Loko MP cited the case between the State and Hon. Alhaji Kemoh Sesay who was wrongfully charged while the notorious and inciting comments made by the SLPP District Chairman in Kenema, Agbao was overlooked.
He said recently a young man was apparently gunned down around a particular political party office for allegedly supporting the opponent of the current national chairman, Dr. Prince Harding and that till date nothing has being done, adding that everybody saw a whole Cabinet Minister destroying electoral materials yet the police could not bring him to book. Sierra Leone is crying for justice! He lamented.
Hon Saidu Babah Kamara pointed out that about 50,000 bags of rice donated for the school feeding program by the Chinese Government as support walked out of the stores without notice.
He explained that the then Minister of Basic Secondary Schools Education was later reinstated and was compensated millions of Leones as Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) deliberately pressed the wrong charges in order to exonerate him.
All those factors he said are responsible for the collapse of the intended Free Quality Education.
He noted that although the pronouncement of the project itself was a laudable but teachers who should provide the quality aspect of the education are still neglected by the government.
Hon. Babahnoted that billions of Leones including thousands of United States dollars was poured into the agriculture sector and that little or nothing to account for.
Hon. SaiduBabah disclosed that hardship in the country at the moment was like a thief knocking the doors of citizens.
He furthered that the much talked about the Turmabom rice and the Rumbeh farm in Port Loko still could not produce a single seed to feed Sierra Leoneans, therefore the food security was only way existing on paper but nothing on the ground.
According to the MP, the current economic situation is not looking for a set of people neither APC supporters alone but everywhere including those that voted the SLPP due to the lofty promises they made, saying that the roof is now leaking more than ever.
He informed that though education was not a flagship project in the previous APC administration but they did very well to improve the conditions of teachers, medical practitioners and across all sectors.
Hon. SaiduBabah explained that the Sierra Leone Teachers Union was a toothless bull dog as they could not be able to properly advocate for their colleagues.
He said, he could not recommend the $34.1 million USD meant for the Turmabon farm to the ACC again because such matters could never be investigated by the commission, he therefore encouraged the house to mount an investigation on that.
He also cited the office of the First Lady that was been exposed all this while by the Africanist Press for corruption, instead the ACC said they would start the investigation from when Adam was born including the former Chief Minister who was accused of converting 1.5 million USD to his personal use.
The MP underscored bank account, the many trips of the President Bio and the most recent one to Vietnam to allegedly learn how to plant rice among other things which he considered to be a waste of task payers’ money.
He concluded that, to him, ACC was not a credible institution one could rely on as the commissioner now is bent on protecting big government/party officials.
