FREETOWN – The Head coach and the assistant coach of the U-19 national team George Kpundeh and Gabriel Anthony have warned the players to take their training serious. The U-19 team is preparing for two international tournaments in June and September this year. In this case, the coaches have emphasized that the selection of players for the two tournaments will purely base on the individual player’s performance and not about their seniority in the team.
This selection, they said will not be done by the coaches but by the technical team which involves the Technical Director and the association’s international technical supervisor Darren Talboth. In any test match they play, Darren will get the scores and analyses online which he will use to analyze their performance.
According to the coaches, the association depends more on Darren for technical analyses of players performance. The association will look at the attitude of the players’ base on the advices they get from the coaches during and after trainings.
The coaches told them that they will be looking at the punctuality of the individual players, behaviors and all needed to be a good player.
They went on that players selected for the first tournament may be replaced if they failed to perform well even if the team qualifies.
The first tournament in June 2021 will be the U-19 ICC Div.2 Tournament in Tanzania and the Division1 tournament in Nigeria September 2021 if they qualify in the first tournament.
