FREETOWN, July 25 (SALONE TIMES) –SALONE TIMES has been monitoring massive corruption involving the Sierra Leone Mission to the European Union in Belgium for which the Ambassador, Samuel Musa was allegedly involved.
This is a case of gross underpayment and siphoning of government money for the wrong purpose.
Correspondences in our desk revealed that the Ambassador on the 5th of November 2018 hired one Diaby Ibrahim to be the cook of the Ambassador at his resident in Belgium and that the cook will be paid the sum of EURO 1,200 per month effective the 31 of November 2018.
That for the two years the cook worked for the Ambassador, he was underpaid by the Ambassador even though the Government of Sierra Leone is believed to be paying the Ambassador the said money.
When Diaby raised issues about his underpayment, the Ambassador decided to summarily dismissed him without his benefit and his money which was illegally undercut by the Ambassador and other senior staff of the Embassy.
“I was summarily dismissed when I raised issues of my underpayment by the Ambassador which is against both the laws of Sierra Leone and that of Belgium,” a correspondent from Diaby states.
When SALONE TIMES contacted the Press Attache of the Embassy, Betty Milton confirmed that it is an issue that they are aware of at the embassy but that She will not comment on it.
She promised to get on to the HOC and get back to SALONE TIMES.
More on this in subsequent editions.
