FREETOWN, Nov. 10 (SALONE TIMES) – The Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) does not only write to promote local sports but also encourages and commends those who help to promote sports in the country.

In this case, last Friday 5th November 2021, they visited the Headquarters of Sierra Leone Commercial Bank in Freetown to commend them.

This happened just after the Bank launched a promotion code named ‘Put Am Dae’ which allows customers and Sierra Leoneans to experience the African Cup of Nations live in Cameroun by winning tickets to the tournament.

Beside the promotion, the Bank few days back signed a Le750M sponsorship for the Leone Stars participation in the above competition.

Also few years back, the Bank sponsored a two rounds premier league.  At the Bank the executive of the sports Writers was introduce by the association fund raising Chairman Ibrahim Babatude Sesay.

Ibrahim Babatunde Sesay told the Bank management that the Sports Writers were please to meet with them and commend them for their endless support towards sports in the country.

In his statement, the SWASAL President Sahr Morris Jr. applauded the management of the leading commercial bank for their contribution towards sports development in the country with the recent one being the Le750M sponsorship towards Leone Stars preparation for the Nations Cup in Cameroun.

He went on that as a body for sports journalists in the country they are pleased with the Commercial Bank to support their association over the years.

This relationship he said they want to revive as it has dwindled over the past years and this time round, they want it to be stronger than before.

The Managing Editor of the association newspaper (Sports World Newspaper), Sayoh Kamara informed the Bank about their plan to publish a special publication on the Leone Stars Road to the AFCON 2021 in Cameroun.

Such Publication will also come out with advertisements and they want the bank to be part of it.

Acting Managing Director of Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Bockarie Kaloko assured SWASAL of rebuilding a strong relationship with them and expressed their commitment towards developing sports in the country.

The relationship with SWASA, he said can never be a mistake as the story of their promotion to sports needs to be told and nobody can do it well except the sports journalist.

 He went on that the ‘Put Am Dae’ promotion is one of their commitments towards sports or football and a way to certify their customers to be part of the competition nationwide. The Acting Managing Director further reechoed that Sierra Leone sports need to be promoted, a reason he said the relation with SWASAL will continue.
