FREETOWN, Sep 13 (SALONE TIMES) – The Sierra Leone Female Cricket national team, The Female Patriot will face Nigeria tomorrow in their first match in group B for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Botswana.
The first batch of the delegation which involves Chairman Francis Samura, Technical Director Gabriel Anthony and the Director of Female Cricket Elizabeth French arrived in Botswana on Monday.
The entire team including the Director of Development Emmanuel Pessima, Team Manager Eustace Jones and the Team Coordinator Alhaji arrived in Botswana safe yesterday 7 September 2021.
According to the plans of the competition the team’s captains will take a snapshot with the champion trophy, Umpires and will attend a press conference together with the Team Managers.
The competition will kick-off tomorrow morning with Sierra Leone engaging Nigeria in the afternoon hours at 2:30 Botswana time.
Sierra Leone will rest on Friday and will face Cameroun on Saturday in the morning hours at the BCA2 Ovals. Before their departure, the team Captain Linda Bull assured the nation that they are going to take all matches serious as their aim is to lift the giant trophy and qualify to the next stage of the ICC Women’s World Cu++++++++++++++p competition.
She went on that their opponents are not strange team to them as they have faced them before in this same qualifying at different venues.
Some of these teams she said have players who have now retired from playing active Cricket as compare to Sierra Leone who has all their players intact.
She emphasized that they are not going to under rate any team in the tournament onto the end of it. This will be the first time for the three times North/West African Champions Sierra Leone to qualify to the next stage of the African qualifying for the female world cup if they win the giant trophy.
As such, Linda said they are determined to set that record and return home with the trophy.
