Sierra Leone’s delegation for the Paris Olympics Games went with 4 athletes. Among the four athletes are Joshua Wyse and Olaminday Elizabeth Sam from Swimming, Georgiana Sesay from Athletics and Mariama Koroma from Judo.
In the Games, Mariama lost her 57kg fight against a Taiwanese female Judoka on Monday. On Thursday, Joshua Wyse failed to qualify to the next stage after failing to clock the qualify time for the next stage.
Joshua compete in Heat 3 in lane 7 in the Men’s Freestyle Heat and clock 27.11 seconds. According to source from France, Joshua was slightly below the qualify time for the quarter-final stage but improved on his timing.
Notwithstanding, Sierra Leone’s only hope now in the Games to win medals are now hang on Georgiana Sesay who will be competing in the Women’s 100M Heat today and Olaminday Elizabeth Sam who will be competing in the 50M Freestyle Heat today.
The coaches for both athletes are optimistic that the two athletes will bring smile on the face of Sierra Leoneans today. Georgiana did it in the All Africa Games in Ghana qualifying to the final stage of the event and she is confident that there is not much difference from the athletes that she will be competing with today.
On the side of Olaminday she is determined to make the difference in swimming today. If the two or one of them qualify to the next stage today there will be more hope for medal for Sierra Leone.
