South Africa born Kenneth Massinga will arrive in Sierra Leone today to take over Sierra Leone’s senior men’s national team (The Patriot) as head coach. Kenneth departed South Africa on Sunday after agreeing a short term contract with the Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) to take over the training of the senior team in Freetown. Kenneth as per contract will travel with team late November 2022 to Rwanda for the ICC Africa T20 World Cup Regional group B qualifier. Group B comprises of eight countries with the group leader and the runner-up to qualify to the next stage of the World Cup qualifier. The team started the preparation few weeks back with local technical team Kenneth will be giving the chance to work on the bowling, batting and the field setting of the team. He will work together with the local coaches to set the batting and the bowling order of the team before their departure to Rwanda. His contract priority is to take the team to next stage of the World Cup qualifier. After his unveiling Kenneth will watch the team play two T20 matches and will start to work on their weakness in the bowling, batting and fielding. While in Sierra Leone Kenneth will also train both the U-19 Men’s and the Women’s national team. Kenneth will return back to South Africa late December 2022 to enjoy the Christmas holiday with his family. According to the President of SLCA Francis Samura his contract will be extended if the senior make it to the next stage.
