Hon Bernadette Wuyatta Songa of Kailahun District has called out the bad politics in the ruling Sierra Leone People Party (SLPP).

She made this statement in the well of Parliament when making her address on the Presidential Nominees and in front of the party Chairman, Dr. Prince Harding,  Western Area Chairman  Hon Manso Dumbuya, Umaru Napoleon Koroma who is the scribe of the party and others.

She said that former Hon Josephine Mackieu was representing Constituency 014 in Kenema district and that she was supposed to be in the sixth Parliament of the Second Republic of Sierra Leone.

She explained that her former colleague is not in Parliament not because she is not a good debater or she did not work in her constituency but because of bad politics in the ruling Sierra Leone People Party (SLPP).

He stated Hon Mackieu stood firm for the Gender Empowerment Act to be passed.

Meanwhile, Parliament approved eight Presidential Nominees including Umaru Napoleon Koroma Esq Deputy Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, Moriba Koroma Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Osman Ibrahim Kanu Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). Hon Josephine Makieu Member Anti-Corruption Advisory Board, Edwin Foray Gondor Member Anti-Corruption Advisory Board, Dr. Joseph Gaima Moiba Member Anti- Corruption Advisory Board, Alhaji Oshoba Aberdeen Member Anti-Corruption Advisory Board and Chernor Jalloh Member Anti- Corruption Advisory Board.

The Leader of Government Business Hon Mathew Nyuma responded that it is the party’s decision so the member should not have raised the issued.

The Speaker of Parliament Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu said he is disappointed at the MP for making such statements.
