Sorie Kargbo 1st In Africa Mala Paralympic Long Jump In Japan

FREETOWN, Sep 1 (SALONE TIMES) – Sorie Kargbo was the only athlete from Africa who qualified for the Paralympic Male Long Jump T47 Event in Japan.

According to sources from Japan, the other athletes were disqualified because they did not meet the criteria to qualify. Sorie is a T46 (one arm) classified athlete but was included in the class of T47 (Two arms) athletes. Despite the above challenge, Sorie did his best with a distance of 5.78 Meters in the final event.

The above record was his personal Best improving his last jump in Tunisia in March which was 4.56 Meters distance. 

The Africa Paralympic Committee has already ranked him as number 1 in Africa for the male Paralympic long jump event. The Team Leader of Paralympic Committee Unisa Deen Kargbo congratulated Sorie and admonished him to continue his hard work.

He went on that such performance showed Paralympic is growing in Sierra Leone. The President and the entire executive of NOC in Sierra Leone joined Unisa Deen Kargbo to congratulate Sorie for the good performance.

They assured him that the Olympic Committee will continue to support him and the others for advance trainings.

Sierra Leone still has one athlete Juan Jackson who will be representing Sierra Leone in the Female Javilin throw event in the Paralympic Games.
