FREETOWN, Aug 27 (SALONE TIMES) – Sierra Leone athlete for the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Sorie Kargbo resented the country in the long Jump event last night in Sierra Leone at 9:00am Thursday in Japan. The athletes and officials were on Wednesday taken on a conducted tour of the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo were the event took place. In the Long Jump heat Sorie falls in T47 Men. The essence of the tour according to the Paralympic Team leader Unisa Deen Kargbo was to let the athletes familiar with the tunnels, the call rooms and the protocols in the marshal order. Tentatively the Men Long Jump event was the first for Sierra Leone. Sorie will take place in the final event if he qualifies. But onto the time going to press there was no information as how the event went on as it was already night hour in Sierra Leone. Apart from Sorie Juan Jackson will represent Sierra Leone in the Women’s Javelin throw. But the date and time for the event has not been made known yet. The two athletes have been in Japan for some days training for their various events. Sources from Japan stated that they were in high spirit and fully prepared to take part in their various events.
