The press briefing brought together members of the fourth estate and senior management staff of the Star Sports Academy.
When giving the rationale behind the trip to Senegal, Mustapha Turay, Director of Operations Star Sports Academy stated that the trip was for talent explosion and concluded that even though the trip was challenging a few of the players were scouted.
Team Manager, Musa Kpokawa aka Manager Salim, when addressing the press stated that the Senegalese trip was a bittersweet experience because out of twenty-two players selected for the trip, only nine were able to enter Senegal because of documentation issues.
He sustained that nine out of the twenty-two players with passports were allowed to board the flight to Senegal, while the thirteen players who were issued Emergency Travel Certificates weren’t accepted by the airport officials.
He pointed out that the positive aspects were some players were scouted from Star Sports Academy and a possible partnership with the organizers of the Detect Management tournament is in the pipeline.
He confirmed to the press that Star Sports Academy will be organizing a youth tournament in Sierra Leone where eight teams will be participating.
Tamba Ngongou, the Head Coach of Star Sports Academy stated that the performances of the nine players were impressive and concluded that the nine players who took part in the tournament did extremely well to showcase themselves.
