FREETOWN: Aug 8 (232news.com) – The Pentecostal Fellowship of Sierra Leone (PFSL) during their August General Meeting with the theme: ‘United against adversity’ have said there is nothing safe about the abortion bill which is covered as the safe motherhood bill.
The general meeting which took place at Zion Praise Church, Hill Station on 2nd August 2022 saw a panel discussion about the abortion bill, religious violence among other important issues.
PFSL President, Bishop Akintayo Sam-Jolly said the panel discussion on the safe motherhood bill is for the general membership to have a clear understanding about the concern of religious leaders not just Christians.
He said there is a whole lot of damage the bill will cause to the religious, social, economic and many other fabric of the nation as a whole.
He pointed out that a lot of people don’t know what is inside the bill as many Sierra Leoneans fail to read deep and get a deeper understanding of it.
“We want our membership to be aware and for them to know what the bill contains, the danger it holds for the nation and how it will be destructive. We want also for people to speak openly if their MPs do not call them because they have to speak to their people before they pass anything in Parliament.”
The PFSL President underscored that parents could not have any control over their children as children aged 11 upward can do what they want any point in time, get pregnant do abortion without parental consent.
“They want to make abortion look so simple and destructive, bring curse upon the nation, expose them to poor health system. Taking quark people without qualification”
He also outline the hidden things that are in the compressive sexual education which are deadly as from infant stage they would start teaching kids about sex and how they should explore as another kind of pleasure.
“Anyone who is a child of God will understand the danger of killing innocent life as far as abortion is concern, a true child of God will put the interest of the nation and its people first than the money they are getting.
We want to be sure and believer that those that stand for what they believe and what the word of God say don’t allow such destruction to this nation. Consider about the child before you accept to pass the abortion bill.”
Bishop Akintayo Sam-Jolly emphasised that people should be concerned about the curse upon the nation as it is a fight for all.
“Don’t sit and allow Sierra Leone to go down the drain, morally, spiritually in any way it is in your hands.”
Dr Christian Bell retired Gynecologist was invited by PFSL executive to make a presentation to members of PFSL about the controversial safe motherhood bill.
Dr Bell presented an objective medical position report to the Pastors for the Church to know what it is all about while recalling on a similar presentation he made to Parliamentarians in 2015.
He emphasized that abortion have a lot of dangers, some are using tablet if not use properly can cause bleeding, some uses the surgery operation which have lot of complication such as bleeding, damage of the womb, it can damage the bladder, intestine, possible infection if you fall into the hands of unprofessional.
“I always contest the word safe; they have to examine all the aspect. I am not convinced if we have enough trained personnel and the equipment to carry out such in the country.”
He went on to underscore the point that right from conception is where life starts, “if you remove it or kill it is something you must give a second thought.”
He disclosed that over 4 million abortions is taking place yearly worldwide.
Pastor Sola Jegede of Zion Evangelical Ministries said from the Biblical points of view the bible say thy shall not commit murder and the medial definition of abortion is killing and removal of unwanted baby
“If you go by the definition of that medical it means we are breaking God’s commandment. The bill will bring curse on yourself and the land and it is not from any other person but from God. The bill will increase immorality, which means trouble to the nation, and the family.”
He continues to say they have engaged stakeholders telling them about the danger that is ahead and they will continue to engage MPs and even the President Bio.
“Let us understand the fullness and implication of this bill and the advantages and disadvantages; above all, the bill is against the word of God.”
