Another All People Congress (APC) Member of Parliament Alfred Ayodele Thompson has joined Hon Mohamed Bangura as the opposition’s only two Members of Parliament.
Alfred Ayodele Thompson, who is representing the Western Area Urban District told journalists that he was under duress to sign the Party’s document in which all elected MPs appended their signature.
He made this statement after he subscribed to the oath of Parliament.
After the elected parliamentarian took the oath of office, Speaker of Parliament Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu thanked the Member of Parliament for taking the bold step.
He said that this record shows that the honorable is duly elected by his people like Hon Mohamed Bangura of Karene district and that he wants other elected members to fellow the foot of them.
Dr. Bundu stated that Hon Thompson is faithful to his promise to his people from the day he subscribed to the oath in parliament and has the protection of parliament.
The Speaker welcome him to parliament and has allocated the second seat in the first row to Hon Thompson as Deputy Minority Leader until further notice.
Hon Thomas insisted that he has done no wrong and that he is in Parliament to represent his people, pointing out that anything done under duress is unlawful.
