FREETOWN – On the 19 of January, 2020, two accused persons appeared in Court before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No 1 Pademba Road Magistrate Court in Freetown.
The accused were in court for allegedly recruiting and trafficking Alhaji Abdul Barrie and Mama Barrie from Guinea to Sierra Leone by Fraud.
The accused persons were in court on twelve count charges ranging from conspiracy to commit human trafficking, engaging in human trafficking, conspiracy to defraud, obtaining moneys by false pretenses among others.
According to the charge record, the accused persons on different days between March 1st 2020 and August 31st 2020 conspired with other persons unknown to traffic Ibrahim Kamara, Abdulrahman Jalloh, Abdulai Barrie and Mamadu Kamara.
It was also alleged that the accused persons willfully obtained the sum of 8,500,000 Leones from Ibrahim Kamara by falsely pretending that they have secured a job for him at the Queen Elizabeth 11 Quay in Freetown which was not true.
The accused persons on the same date obtained the same amount from Abdulrahman Jalloh, Abdulai Barrie and Mamadu Kamara under the same false pretense. The matter was prosecuted by I.T. Bangura, A.S.P Mansaray and Inspector D.A Taylor. The accused persons were not legally represented.
The matter was adjourned to the 26 January 2021.The accused persons were remanded.
