The Acting Leader of government business Hon Bashiru Silikie has said that the price of the passport is a concern to them.

He said that according to the agreement with Netpage they (Netpage) are supposed to produce E- passports and as such it was pegged in dollars, pointing out that the passport is not E-passport.

“When you use it to travel you face a lot of embarrassment in other countries, so they were not able to surgeon the passport issue which was before five hundred thousand Leones,” he explained.

Hon Silikie pointed out that US$ 100, is too much so he moved a motion that they should summon the Minister of Internal Affairs or else they need to review the contract.

The Speaker of Parliament Dr. Abass Bundu said the passport is not machinable so they have to get it right on the next adjourned date.

He furthered that they should get the Minister of Internal Affairs to explain about the passport and US$ 25, 00 passengers are paying for the coming and going out of the country.

The Speaker mandated the chairman of Internal Affairs to pass the message to the Minister of Internal affairs because it is a serious issue.
