Waves of Unity: Sierra Leone Set for Grand Coastal Boat Race 2026

Excitement is mounting as the GEED Foundation, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs and Marine Times Agency, announces the long-awaited return of the National Coastal Unity Boat Race 2026.

The highly anticipated event is set to take place at Chapter One Beach Front from April 4 to April 5, 2026, marking a significant cultural and sporting revival along Sierra Leone’s coastline.

According to organizers, preliminary rounds will be held on April 4, bringing together contestants from coastal communities across the country to officially kick off the competition. The excitement will culminate on April 5 with the grand finale, where the ultimate winners will be determined.

A total of 16 contestants representing various coastal communities have already been confirmed, showcasing unity, resilience, and maritime skill. The competition promises not only thrilling action but also attractive cash prizes for the first, second, and third-place winners.

Organizers emphasized that the event goes beyond competition. It forms part of a broader effort to support the government’s agenda for national unity while promoting Sierra Leone on a larger stage. By uniting participants from diverse coastal regions, the race symbolizes collaboration and shared national identity.
