FREETOWN, Jan. 26 (SALONE TIMES) – The senior male national football team of Sierra Leone, Leone Stars qualified for the AFCON 2020 in Cameroon after 25 years absent. Leone Stars were in group together with the defending Champions Algeria, Ivory Coast and Equatorial Guinea. Sierra Leone drew their first two group stage matches against Algeria 0-0 and Ivory Coast 2-2. Leone Stars lost their group stage match to Equatorial Guinea 0-`1 which on paper was the last in ranking. In that match Leone was only looking for a point to qualify to the knock-out stage but lost narrowly and was kicked out of the tournament.  The team has returned home after their exit in the Nations Cup. The question thousands of fans are asking now is what plans are for the next AFCON Tournament in Ivory Coast 2023. As of now some say they should now embark on the local leagues. Some are asking for the present status of the technical team. In this case the first thing the fans and the media want from the authorities in charge is to organize press conference and explain how it all happen in Cameroon. In the press conference they should also talk on the immediate plans for the upcoming AFCON qualifying competitions. The fans also want to know if the FA is going to maintain the technical team or if there is going to be changes. In any case they want the technical team to start immediately to build up the team as some players will be retiring and they need replacement. There are still some players whom they say the authorities need to convince to change their status and play for Sierra Leone in the upcoming matches. The fans also want the authorities to give account of what they received and what they spent.
