When parliament released a press release that they have summoned the Sports Ministry, the National Sports Authority (NSA) and the FA, most people felt it was just for the recent Leone Stars friendly match in Dubai but the Chairman of the Parliamentary Sports Oversight Committee Hon. Alusine Alu Conteh has made it clear that the reports should not only be limited to the recent Leone Stars friendly match in Dubai. He went on that additionally they want the financial reports on the past Nations Cup in Cameroun. The Chairman went on that after the Nations Cup, they asked the Sports Minister and the NSA Boss to give reports on how they spent the monies that were disbursed to them for the competition. In the above competition Leone Stars went out of the competition in the group stage. He went on that what the Sports Minister has been saying to him is that they contracted a particular group of people to do the arrangement for the hotels they used during the competition including feeding and transportation. These contract people the Minister said were still yet to present their report. However, the Chairman said that there were also other activities which they want them to give reports on which they will present to the well of Parliament. He though made it clear that their request is not a witch hunt for any individual or group of people. But he said as parliamentarians their role is to serve the people of Sierra Leone and that their own committee is to oversee sports activities in the country. With all this he said the Sports Ministry has failed to give them the reports they have requested for instead he said they continue to dodge them. This time round, he said the report from the people in the social media and on newspapers was too damaging and not good for Sports development a reason he said they want to hear from the Minister, the NSA Boss and the FA as they don’t want to act on social media reports or on rumors.
