FREETOWN, Oct. 3 (232News) – Women in the Media Sierra Leone (WIMSAL) together with the Media Reform Coordinating Group (MRCG) has trained female journalists and bloggers on Women Rights Online Issues in Sierra Leone.

President of WIMSAL, Femi Jarret Coker explained that they are going to train fifty women journalists including bloggers on Women’s Rights Online Issues in Sierra Leone, admonishing every participant to collaborate and protect the right of women.

President of SLAJ Ahmed Sahid Nasralla said that women’s right can be a form of abuse and exploit so they want them be digital literate and to organize themselves to be formidable.

Mabinty Kamara spoke on digital Rights which are not unconnected to freedom of expression and privacy, noting that, they are those rights that allow people to access, use, create and publish digital media as well as access and use computers and others electronic devices and communications network.

Madam Kamara pointed out that digital right including freedom of expression, information and communication are threatened on the internet when government blocked websites or social network which is a violation of the right to communication and free association.

The training was supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ghana.
