FREETOWN, Oct. 28 (SALONE TIMES) – Female sports are becoming boring in Sierra Leone as much attention is not being paid to them presently in terms of allowance from the government.

The latest is the national U-20 female football team which officials, according to source, used threatening remarks against the players when they requested their allowances. Apart from the football team very recently the female national Cricket team took part in an international competition without a single cent from the government. The Ministry of Sports promised them that they will get their allowances. But up till now there is no word from the Sports Ministry for their allowance. The President of Women and Sports Commission Pamela Williams said they have received complaints about how the authorities are treating female athletes in the country but she said they were not getting most things happening directly from the athletes and that sometimes they only get it through the radio or television. Notwithstanding, she said the commission will soon meet and find a way to investigate what went wrong with the female players. On the issue of allowances, she said they will be meeting with the NSA Directors to talk on the issue of the female athletes. Pamela went on they have women who are tax payers and such they should also enjoy it. She though advice all female athletes to respect authorities and concentrate on their trainings.
