The Sierra Leone national U-19 team is set to take part in the ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup division1 qualifying tournament in Dar Es’ Salam, Tanzania.
The young Patriots qualify to the division1 when they ended in 3rd position in Nigeria few months back. Back home, they have embarked on intensive training and took part in the men’s national league and trial matches.
In the trial matches played, they have defeated the senior patriot men’s team twice in two ODI matches. The executive and the board have applauded the hired South African coach Kenneth Masinga whom they said have improved the performance of the young boys compare to before.
The team will depart to Tanzania on the 16th July to acclimatize with the weather of Tanzania before the kick-off of the tournament. Kenneth is also here, they said to develop the game for the future. In lieu of the above, Kenneth will be travelling with two U-15 players in the U-19 team.
The two players are Nyakeh John Bull a batsman and Michael Kabia a batsman and a spin bowler. According to Coach Kenneth, the two players are vital players and that he wants to use them in playing international matches earlier.
Besides, he said the two young players will motivate the other young players to take the game serious. In the tournament the Young Patriots will face Tanzania, Namibia, Kenya, Nigeria and Uganda.
