‘ICC Recognition Will Motivate Me To Do More’ …Alusine Turay

The Senior Patriots former open batsman Alusine Turay was recently recognized among five players as one of the youngest players who have scored 50 runs in Men’s T20 International matches.

Among the five young players Alusine at the age of 16 years 89 days scored 50 runs not out in 20 overs against Ghana in 2023 at Wilmore Park in South Africa. The other four players recognized are Vaibhay Soortayanshi vs. Zimbabwe in 2026, Loius Bruce vs. Malta in 2021 and Kavin Chaddha vs. Indonesia in 2026.

Alusine set a record to be the only Africa player among the 5 young players in the recognition list. Talking to the media, Alusine said such is a motivational recognition and that it is going to help him to do more.

Alusine was recently dropped from open batsman to bat as medium batsman. This, he said it is easy for a player to drop form but it takes time and hard work to build up back.

In this case, he said the above motivation will motivate him to do more to get more recognition this time as a medium age player. Alusine, apart from batting is also a good fielder and also a spin bowler. Alusine thanked the coaches whom he said brought him to this position. He advised the younger players to listen to the advice of the senior players as they too came through the same channel.
