The technical team for the senior Women’s national team has asked for two more trials to enable them select 14 players for the Nigeria T20 Invitational competition in Lagos this month. The team started the preparation with the Franchise league in which they divided the ladies into four teams. The Nigeria Women’s T20 Invitational competition will kick-off on the 25th February 2024. In this case the delegation will depart on the 24th February and arrive Lagos on the same day. According to the technical team some of the vital players did not perform well in the league due to the type of players they were playing with. In lieu of the above they have now divided the top 22 players in the league log into two teams for two days trials matches. According to the head coach of the team Sinneh Kamara, they have told the scorers to open a new page for the trial matches to enable them select the best players among the 22 players base on their performance. The coach said they will be looking first for those who are all-rounders then they will look at those who are specialize in batting and bowling. According to source from Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroon will be absent in the tournament this year and they will be replaced by Tanzania and Uganda senior female national teams. Apart from Sierra Leone, the other participating teams will be using the above tournament as preparation for the All Africa Games in Ghana next month.
