It was an exciting moment for pupils as well as teachers of the Aberdeen Municipal School as one of their trusted partners, Atlantic Lumley Hotel, one of Sierra Leone’s most prestigious hotels, took them by surprised and organized a drawing competition for 700 pupils of that school.

The management and staff of the Atlantic Hotel took time off to interact with the pupils as well as their teachers as the competition ran from class 6 to infants.

Four winners emerged from each class and they all received special prizes from the hotel, while general prizes worth Thousands of Leones were presented to pupils that participated in the competition. 

The drawing competition which took place past Wednesday saw the excitement of the pupils to compete and also demonstrated their drawing talents.

General Manager of Atlantic Lumley Hotel (ALH), Sampson Fung was so excited to see the pupils demonstrating their drawing skills. He described the moving as an eye opening one.

He went on to say the hotel has been supporting the school in diverse ways and they decided to take them by surprise this time by organizing drawing competition for them.

He commended the tireless effort of the teachers despite the difficulty they are still endure to ensure that the pupils get quality education.

He went on to say the Atlantic Lumley Hotel will continue to play it part through their cooperate social responsibility to not only transformed the school but the will ensure that they enjoy basic educational amenities.

He recalled that the Atlantic Hotel donated 50 bags of cements and quantum of sand for the ongoing expansion of the Municipal School. The

“We have been doing this as part of our CSR and in line with the government human capital development drive.” 

Educational materials and chocolates formed part of the gifts the hotel presented the the pupils and teachers.

The Human Resource Manager, Atlantic Lumley Hotel, Lonnel Saied Kargbo too demonstrated his teaching skills by taking to the black board and draw fish, village setting, apple among others for the pupils as well as infant to clearly see what they should draw.

From what the HR saw after the pupils finished their drawing, he said there is hope as the pupils demonstrated commitment as if it was their final exam.

“Reaching out to the kids in such a time is was very important and I believe we will continue to do so because this is not the first time the Hotel is donating to the school, we donated hundreds of school bags to this school and the surrounding schools,” said HR.

The donation does not only stop with the pupils but also the teachers as they received lot of stationeries.

The teacher as well as pupils thanked the management and staff of Atlantic Lumley Hotel for always coming to their aid.

Mrs. Henrietta S. Gembeh Head Teacher Infant said this is not the first time they have received gifts from the Hotel which means they have love and interest for the school and the kids.

She told the children that to show their appreciation to the Hotel, they have to make good use of the items.

She thanked management and staff of the hotel for the gestures and said they will ever remain to appreciate them.
