FREETOWN: Aug 8 (232news.com) – Members of Parliament on Thursday August 4th 2022 have cautioned the Board Chairman going to the National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) for better data Processing for the people of this country. This came about when members of parliament were approving eight presidential nominees going to serve in various institutions like the prisons, police, NASSIT, NCRA, SLRSA and other departments. The Deputy Leader of Government Business Hon Bashiru Silikie made this statement while approving the nominees at the Well of Parliament. He said Ahmed Amadu Turay the Director General of Sierra Leone Correctional Center has serve in that institution since his adulthood also the Deputy Director General of correctional center Sahr David Thomas Ngauja convinced the committee during the interview panel that he had served that institution for two years and that he has gone through the ranks and training in and out of the country.

Hon Silikie advised Col. Ngauja to work with his boss and remove the military fatigue and put on the civilian clothes. He informed the speaker that this is the first time he was seeing the outgoing inspector General of Police witnessing the approval of the new Inspector General of Police.  He told him to not be intimidated by politicians as he has his family name to protected. He called on the new Inspector General of Police William Fayia Sellu that he should work with all officers including senior and junior officers and advised the officers to work with him. He admonished them not to undermine the new IGP.

Hon Dr. Mack Mahmoud Kalokoh said the board Chairman going at NCRA should make sure that there is no mis-match in the National Identification Numbers and went on to call on the police to desist from targeting the opposition.

Hon Rebecca Yei Kamara said the role of the police is to protect lives and properties and pleaded with the Inspector General of Police to take care of women Police Officers.  Hon Kamara advised the new IGP to be prayerful as elections are around the corner. Mr Ngauja she said was going to the prison to work for the country not for himself. Mr Sowa going as Deputy Permanent Representative (political affairs) to the United nations in New York.

The Leader of Government Business Hon Mathew Nyuma said the Inspector General of Police should be friend of the law and should not condone lawlessness. Members of parliament approved eight nominees; Ahmed Amadu Turay Director General Sierra Leone Correctional Center, Col. Sahr David Thomas Ngauja Deputy Director General Sierra Leone Correctional Center, Morris Salieu Conteh Member National Social Security and Insurance Trust of Trustees, Sorie Fofanah Chairman Board of Director National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA), Musa Kargbo Member Board Of Directors, Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority(SLRSA) Dr. Joseph Sherman –Kamara member, Board of Trustees Sierra Leone Students Loan Scheme Fund, Amara Sheik Mohamed Sowa Deputy Permanent Representative (political affairs) to the United Nations, New York and William Fayia Sellu Inspector General of Police.
