A delegation from the Sierra Leone Embassy in Ghana headed by the Head of Chancery Joseph Spencer Thornton paid an official visit to Team Sierra Leone at the Games village in Lagon, Accra. Addressing part of the delegation, the Head of Chancery said he was there with a message from the Ambassador whom he said was in Sierra Leone for the funeral of the late Sister of President Bio. He went on that they were there to tell the delegation to know that they are at home even away from home. He maintained that their visit was to motivate the athletes and give them the courage to compete fearlessly. He commended the delegation that since they arrived in Accra they had not received any complain for any misconduct; a feat they should maintain. Thornton told them to have no fear staying in Ghana as Accra is a peaceful city and the people love and give respect to strangers. The Embassy staff he said were also at the Games Village to be part of the flag raising ceremony. He told the delegation that the Embassy had prepared some home food for them which they will serve few hours after the flag raising ceremony. The Press Attaché of the Embassy Princeseter Williams and other embassy staff served food and drinks to all the Sierra Leonean athletes and officials in the village. Besides the above visit, the embassy had paid their first visit to the village few days earlier when they were accompanied by the Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh to address the athletes in the Games village.
